Residence Hall Students
Welcome
to Southern Illinois University-Carbondale
What’s
available in each resident hall room? . . .
There
are 3 jacks installed in each room.
• The
first jack has a working phone line that remains in that room all the time.
You and your roommate will share this line for voice calls or connecting
to the Internet.
• The
second jack is available for an optional second phone line or for dial-up
internet access. This has a $65 activation fee and a monthly charge
of $13.47 per month.
• The
third jack is for your optional Ethernet service, should you decide to
sign up for this service which cost $57/semester.
• Note:
You are responsible for providing your own telephone instruments.
We discourage the use of cordless phones because they work poorly due to
the construction of the buildings.
How do I call long
distance? . . . .
We issue
each student their own, confidential long distance authorization code so
there will be no questions as to who made a particular phone call.
These codes may only be used in your assigned room.
Rate: .07 cents per minute.
(Good
anytime, anywhere in the continental U. S.
)

You may
also use calling cards or call collect.
Do you want extra
features on your telephone line?
