Problems with Netscape Smart Download
When downloading Oracle Jinitiator or Form Flow Filler from the AIS web site, you may encounter an error similar to the one shown below. Smart Download is a utility that can be downloaded and installed as part of the Netscape 4.7 download from Netscape's homepage.
Below are steps to disable or uninstall Smart Download.
Note: You can either disable smart download, or you can completely remove it. You do not have to do both.
Disabling Smart Download
Step 1.
After clicking on the file to download it, Smart Download will pop up with a window with three buttons (Install, More Info, or Close). If you received the error above, you have probably clicked Install before. Click Close.
Step 2
Click the Advanced Button.
Step 3
Click the checkbox next to Use Netscape SmartDownload when downloading .EXE and .ZIP files so that there is no check in the box as in the .
Step 4
You will get a message that these changes will apply the next time you try to download the file. Click OK.
Step 5
Click Close to close Smart Download.
Step 6
A window will have appeared during the download. Click the X in the upper right corner of the window to close it.

Now, you are ready to try downloading jinitiator or Form Flow Filler again.
Uninstalling Smart Download
Step 1
Double click the My Computer icon.![]()
Step 2
Double Click the Control Panel icon.![]()
Step 3
Double Click the Add/Remove Programs icon.![]()
Step 4
Scroll down through the list of programs until you see Netscape SmartDownload 1.1 and click on it once to highlight it. Click the Add/Remove button.

Step 5
You will get a message that Smart Download was removed. Click OK. Close all windows of Netscape, and try the download again.
