Accessing the Internet in the SIUC Residence Halls
The Computer Support Center's Guidelines for Setting Up Clean Access For Ethernet Access (Reznet)
- The first requirement will be to install the Clean Access (CA) Agent on your computer, and allow it to check for other required items.
- When you first plug in your computer into the network jack, start your web browser program (such as Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, or Internet Explorer.) You will see a page that tells you that you are being redirected to the network authentication page and gives you a link to click on if your browser does not redirect automatically.
- If you see a screen that asks you about security permissions now or at any time during this installation, click "Yes" to continue.
- The locally signed Certificate is valid. Please select the "Yes" button to proceed.
- The next screen will be the main RezNet login screen. Windows users will also need to log in here the first time they connect to download the CA agent software.
- Use your SIUC Network ID and password, if you do not have one, or use the links on this page to create an ID and then to change the password from the default. (Be sure to read any messages you receive when creating a new Network ID. The default password is explained in the "Account Created Successfully" message.)
- If you create your Network ID account to begin this process, you need to be aware there is system processing time before the ID can be used for CA or RezNet login which can be up to 30 minutes. Once logged in on the main RezNet screen, you will be taken to a download page where you may retrieve the CA software. Click on the large "Download Clean Access Agent" button.
- You may receive another warning screen about security permissions. If you see this screen, click "Yes" to continue.
- Next will be a "Run or Save" dialogue; choose the "Save" option.
- Choose a location to save the CA software.
- Once the download is completed, close any open download windows.
- An icon for the CCAAgentSetup.exe file should have been created on your Desktop, or in the folder where you saved it if you chose a location other than the Desktop.v
- Double-click this icon to start the installer program.
- The installer program will open a welcome screen, click "Next".
- Accept the default location by clicking the "Next" button again.
- The program now has all the information needed to install the Clean Access agent on your computer. Click "Install" to start copying the necessary program files.
- If a screen with a finish button appears, click the "Finish" button to end the installation program. The "Finish" screen may not appear in every installation.
- You might see the message "Failed to add Clean Access Agent icon to the taskbar status area." You can also use the Start menu; choose All Programs, then Cisco, Clean Access, and finally the Clean Access Agent program from the menu.
- Log in with your SIUC Network ID and password. Press the Enter key or click the Login button to continue.
- If you receive a warning message about trusting the issuer of the Certificate, simply click the "Yes" button to accept the certificate.
- Your computer will now begin the process of checking for any necessary remediation imposed by the Clean Access management system.
- Instructions to fix any problems will be presented on the reporting screen.
- Follow the links provided, and read the instructions carefully.
- If, after you have read and followed the instructions you do not manage to make a successful network connection, please call the Computer Support Center help desk at 453-5155. (Mon-Fri 8am-4:15pm)
- Leave any error messages or remediation instruction screens on your computer screen to help the technician diagnose and fix the problem.

HOW TO CONFIGURE REZNET FOR 1 COMPUTER
Plug one end of your cat-5 cable with RJ-45 jack directly into the network jack on the wall and the other end into your computer. You are finished.
HOW TO CONFIGURE REZNET FOR 2 OR MORE COMPUTERS
You will need a hub or switch, and at least three standard cat-5 cables equipped with RJ-45 jacks. One cable will be used for the uplink from the switch or hub to the Ethernet jack in your room, and one cable will go from the hub or switch to each computer. Each computer will need an Ethernet network card (note: many are built into the motherboard) installed. Instructions for configuring your hub or switch should be included in its packaging. Uplink Port to Ethernet Jack.
Do not use a router. Placing a router in service on the Rez-Net will result in your Ethernet port being disabled and loss of Ethernet (Reznet) access privileges.
